How to use hello aurora & connect with Northern Lights lovers's cover picture

In early 2021 we came up with the new feature for the hello aurora app. This feature is to help you see the real-time photo and location plus the intensity of it which we called โ€˜momentโ€™.ย The aim of the moment is to make your aurora hunting more fun, with this you will be able to share your aurora moment with other people yet receive the aurora notifier and also connect and get to know people who share the same passion. Letโ€™s take a look at how you can use this feature in the most efficient way!

How to share my moment ๐Ÿ“ท

1. Download hello aurora and open the app

Go get the free app on App Store or Play Store, follow the onboarding step, and make an account for yourself. Feel free to put your Instagram link, website and write a little introduction if you want to.

2. Click on the eyes icon

Once you see the aurora whether itโ€™s with your eyes or through a camera lens, select how intense the Northern Lights you are seeing. There are three intensity levels which are weak, medium, and strong.ย If you can easily see the Northern Lights with your eyes it will be a strong intensity, if you can see a fading light in the sky the intensity will be medium and if you can only see it through a camera lens it will be weak.

3. Take a photo or choose a photo

Take a photo of the aurora you are seeing or choose a photo from your phone's library and press "share now"

Now you have shared your moment with other people!ย ๐ŸŽ‰

How to see the moment and connect to people ๐Ÿ‘€

When you are out to see the Northern Lights the easiest way to feel connect and not feeling alone on the field is to be able to see and know about the others right?

Here is how you can see and know if others have spotted a Northern Lights:

1. Press "moments"

2. You will see the most recent moment and the featured moments that are picked by us.

3. Choose the emoji you like ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ‰ and react to other's moments!

To set the notification ๐Ÿšจ

1. Go to the setting page โš™๏ธ:ย 

Once you open the app you will see the 3 lines menu on the left. Press on that and it will bring you to the setting page.ย 

2. Enable notification โฃ๏ธ:ย 

You can choose to receive notifications from more than one country. Choose the kilometres range or choose the country you want to receive notification ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ and you will receive a notification to your phone when someone has spotted a Northern Lights. You can simply press on the notification and it will bring you to the shared pin on the map page.

See your stats ๐Ÿ“ˆ

You can as well store your aurora history on the app. On your profile page, you can find your spotted history, moments, and how many people reacted and see your moments. Let's count how many times in a year you have spotted the aurora with us ๐Ÿคฉ

1. Choose "more" on the left to go to your profile

2. See your profile and your aurora stats ๐Ÿคฉ

This is simply how you can share your photo with other people and be connected while hunting the aurora.
